Vintage seems to have gotten under my skin lately, because I want to make more and more vintage cards!
This card was made with a stamp set from Inspired by Stamping. It is called Summer Postcards Add On, and although it’s an add on, it can be used as standalone, as I have done.
Here’s how I made this card:
I cut a cardstock topper, added some Vintage Photo distress ink lightly around the topper. Then I distressed the edges using a distress tool, and used Vintage Photo on the distressed edges. I also purposely ripped the card at the top, making sure this was distressed well with Vintage Photo.
I stamped the four images I wanted to use, again with Vintage Photo – except for the ‘sentiment’ stamp, which I stamped with Worn Lipstick distress ink. The other images were ‘touched’ with Copics. I didn’t want dark colors, just wanted to put a little color into the card. The Copics color I used was an almost perfect match for Worn Lipstick.
It was a little fiddly, but once stamped and colored, I distressed the edges of each image, which I’d cut out by hand. I made sure they were a little crumped to give them an even stronger vintage look. I also went around each image with Old Paper distress ink, to add to the ‘oldness’.
Each small image was added using a small amount of wet glue. I didn’t want them sitting perfectly on the topper. My aim was to get a ‘falling off’ appearance. (To add to the old look!)
I added the topper to the cardbase, but not until I’d gone around the base with Vintage Photo and Worn Lipstick distress inks, to match the topper with the base.
Last but certainly not least, I added various sized pearls to the bottom right hand corner. It was a little bare, but using all large pearls it looked cluttered. Gradually decreasing the size of the pearls worked perfectly.
Thanks for looking, and as always, if you want to comment, and the comment box isn’t showing, click the title of this post and it will magically appear!

Thanks so much, Ann. I really appreciate your support! And I’m so glad the details about Inspired by Stamping have helped. I only recently found them, and really love their stamps! Choosing what to get at this point in time, without totally blowing my budget, was difficult!!
Oh, you are giving me the desire to make more vintage card attempts! I am far from expert on that style. I LOVE how this reminds me of going through an old truck and pulling this out from somebody’s keepsakes. Finding this card: old, worn, a bit torn, faded colors, and peeling pictures, is exactly what you would expect. Cheryl, you are teaching us well! I can see why you love vintage,it’s so lovely, and fragile, and a bit more feminine to me. Sorry guys, it just looks that way to me. Thanks for your descriptions: so concise, and expanatory. Lovely card, and I would love to see all the “vintage” you can manage! LOL I am loving the tutorials, you are inspiring me! TFS!!!
Anna, thank you so much! I can’t say I’m an expert on vintage, far from it, but I do love the style!
Vintage can certainly be feminine, especially when beautiful ribbons are used!
I expect I’ll make some more vintage cards in the near future, since I ordered vintage stamp sets (from Inspired by Stamping) and they should arrive this week!!
Hi Cheryl, This is so beautiful! I just love everything about this card! It just speaks shabby chi! LOVE IT! Hugs, Joanna
Thanks so much, Joanna! Vintage and Shabby Chic are my favourite cards to make.
