Monster Birthday Card

It must be the week for fun cards, because this one sure was fun!

When I saw the inspirational photo for the CUTplorations February challenge, I immediately thought of my new “Jeepers Creepers” set from Close to my Heart. I have only had this set a month or so, and haven’t had the chance to use it prior to this.

It is actually a Halloween set, but I bought it to use for birthdays. I bought the stamp set and the matching dies, which make it so much easier.

I used my Kaleidacolor ink pads to get the rainbow effect, then cut each monster out with the matching dies.

There isn’t much to this card. I found some dsp that I thought wasn’t too busy, otherwise the effect of the monsters would be lost. I heat embossed (white) the greeting, from the same set in the left-hand bottom corner.

I then added each monster, on an angle, down the right-hand side using dimensional dots. And I thought it was done. But it wasn’t. It felt too empty above the greeting, so I added another monster and some ‘splotches’ using the same red ink as was used on the monsters.  The splotches were made using an image from the Scribbly Splattery Grunge set from STAMPlorations.

Once I’d added those, I was happy. My card no longer looked empty.

Thanks for looking, and as always, if you want to comment and the comment box isn’t showing, click the title of this post and it will magically appear!
