Mojo Monday 190 – Take Two

If you saw my previous ‘Mojo” post, you know I found the Mojo Monday 190 Sketch quite challenging.  And I do love a challenge!

So I decided to go back and make another card using the same sketch.  I am very pleased with it.

Here’s the sketch again:

This time I decided to make a more formal card, and chose a Wedding card.

I started this card with white card stock.  I then used Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink and sponged it over most of the card.  Next I used Stampin’ Up Gold Spritzer spray to create a shimmer and spatters of gold.

On the top of the card are two hearts cut in gold card stock using Provo Craft Concentric Heart Die.  I used the medium sized heart cut-outs as I found the large ones a bit too large.  I glued those to the top centre, then added pearls to the right of them.

The center band was extremely easy to make.  I used two types of ribbon:  underneath was gold ribbon (similar to organza, but I’m not convinced it was organza), then I added a strip of ‘open weave’ ribbon over it. (See below)

I added three heart pins that I had in my ‘stash’, and placed four small organza flowers over them to both hide the pin stalk, and to protect people from the sharp end. (Instructions for the flowers can be found here.)  I used three different colors – all colors that contrasted with the rest of the card.

I felt the bottom of the card was a little bare, so I added a small sentiment.  I cut out a small shape using one of my Spellbinders Nestabilities Large Classic Scalloped Ovals Die , then stamped “Love” on it.  I used a small piece of padded double sided tape to secure it to the card.

*To make the sentiment, I decided to duplicate the rest of the card and sponged a sheet of matte card stock with Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink.  Then, because I wanted a deeper color than the rest of the card so it would stand out, I also sponged Scattered Straw Distress Ink. On top of those two inks I again used the Stampin’ Up Gold Spritzer spray – this gave it a little more depth.

I am very happy with the result, and will most likely use this card for my Nephew’s wedding in a few months.
