I am still on the challenge splurge – it gets me crafting and also gives me a deadline and something to work toward.
This card was made for two challenges – Mod Squad Challenge, which is For the Birds, and Tic-Tac-Toe, I chose the right hand column going down. That is Birthday, Masculine, and Use Packaging Goods.
I started with Kraft cardstock, and added a distressed piece of dsp which was from my stash. It was in a book of papers for men, which I’ve had for years. It’s from Hot Off the Press.
Using the MFT Balloons stamps and dies, I stamped the middle balloon and cut it out. The other two balloons were cut out using the oval balloon die. I used a piece of cardboard, still left over from our sheet purchases a couple of weeks back. I painted them both with yellow acrylic paint from Kaisercraft.
The strings are also from the Balloons set. The Yippee Skippee greeting is from retired Stampin’ Up! set called Yippee-Skippee. (I love using that set with Bird Crazy stamps!) The tag for the greeting started out white, but I added Vintage Photo distress ink to make it fit with the rest of the card.
The Bird is from Tim Holtz Bird Crazy, and I watercoloured it using Cosmic Shimmer Watercolours. I then cut it out with the matching dies, and sat him on top of some more packaging, which I inked up with some Vintage Photo distress ink – because it was blending into the background too much.
I popped the top half of the bird up, as well as popping up the middle balloon.
It sounds like a lot of work, but it really wasn’t.
