Father’s Day Card

Here in Australia, Father’s Day is the first Sunday in September.

Unfortunately, my dad is long gone, and so is my father-in-law.  But I have a son who has three children. My grandson Curtis no longer makes cards, because at almost 14 he feels he’s too old to be doing things like this.  It’s not a new thing, it’s now been going on for at least two years.

The girls (Nikita – 12, and Crystal – 11) love making cards, and will make one for their dad, and I didn’t want Curtis to miss out.

This was a very easy card to make, once I got the sponging right!  To be honest, this is my first attempt at using sponging as a background like this. I usually only use sponging for distressing, and for small areas, so this was definitely a challenge!

I think I wasted about six sheets of card before I managed this one.

Not sure if you can see it, but I was aiming for get something that looked like the sun setting in the background, and the ocean in the foreground!

I did the sponging (with distress inks) on glossy cardstock, otherwise you get a matt effect.

The main image stamp is from Kaszazz, and is simply called “Fishing”.

The greeting is from Inspired by Stamping, and is from the Ahoy, Matey set.

Once everything was sponged and stamped, I just added it to a cardbase.  Very easy!
