My grandson, Curtis, recently turned 14. He’s not into much – online games (what teenage boy isn’t?), and music.
This card was really an abstract work, and just kind of evolved.
I’ve used two stamp sets to achieve this look:
Guitars – from Inspired by Stamping
Live Life Loud – from Gina K Designs (no longer available)
I started off by stamping “Birthday” using a Fern Gully stamp – it actually says Happy Birthday, but I masked it off. Then, using one of the ‘blotches’ from “Guitars” I stamped downwards with two colours.
I then randomly stamped with Gina K stamps on the right, added the “Happy” cut-out, and lastly, I stamped the guitar in Archival Jet Black directly onto the card. I also stamped the guitar again, and cut it out after sponging with Vintage Photo distress ink.
Here’s the inside of the card:
As you can see, I carried the theme over to the inside. The ‘blotches’ were made using the Guitars set again, and the greeting is from Birthday Greetings – Gina K Designs.
That’s it – pretty simple!
Thanks for looking, and as always, if you want to comment, and the comment box isn’t showing, click the title of this post and it will magically appear!
Love this Cheryl! Love your background technique
Love it, so easy and yet very effective, just love the guitar stamp.
Cheers Vicki
Lindsay, thanks so much. It’s really just random stamping!
Thanks Vicki. Yes, it was easy. Being a 14 year old boy, I knew this card wouldn’t be something he’d be very interested in. And I was right – it’s sitting in the envelope it came in.
But I made the effort, and that’s what really matters….
cheryl, i love this card! i find that style hard but you sure don’t!
Thanks Marcelle. Honestly, if you don’t think about it too much, it’s very easy to do! LOL
i love the abstract colors 🙂 fantastic card!!! So glad you shared with us on IBS.
Thanks so much, Rose! I adore the Guitars set – it is perfect for teenage boys! (And man-boys too. hehe)
Cheryl, this card turned out so well! I love how you decorated the inside of the card beautifully too! I think he will love it! xx
Thanks, Joanna! He loved it as much as a 14 year old boy can!!!
