Masculine Seaside Card

seaside-watermark

I don’t make a lot of ‘seaside’ type cards, despite loving the beach. (Not to swim – I don’t go in the water at the beach.)

There are two great challenges going on right now that really spoke to me, so I made a card so that I could join in.

They are:

Seize the Birthday – Water challenge

and

Mod Squad Challenge – also Water Challenge

The background was made using distress inks. Once dried, I used Stampin’ Up! Gorgeous Grunge to add sand texture and pebbles to the foreground. The seashells, starfish etc, were made using a Gina K Designs stamp set – “A Year of Borders”.

The fence was a die-cut sent to me by a friend some time ago, and the anchor is a die. Sorry, I don’t know the name or company. (I get a lot of unbranded dies.)

The greeting is from a retired Stampin’ Up! set.

Thanks for looking, and as always, if you want to comment, and the comment box isn’t showing, click the title of this post and it will magically appear!

  1. This card is awesome!I love the sky.(or is it the sea?) It’s gorgeous whatever it is. The beach with starfish is outstanding. Beautiful Masculine card.

  2. Thanks so much Joan! It started out as being the sea, but I decided it is more like the sky. However, I think it’s better left to the individual’s interpretation!

  3. Beautiful beach scene, Cheryl! Love the sand and shells….great addition with the fence. Makes me want to go there! Thanks for playing along with us at Seize the Birthday!

  4. Thanks so much, Sharyn. I hadn’t done watercolouring for a while – it was nice to get back into it.

  5. Cheryl, I love this masculine card. I need one for an April birthday and I think this one is a great idea. Thanks for playing with us at Seize the Birthday Challenge.

  6. Hi Cheryl, what a wonderful beach scene you created. I don’t go in the water either! LOL Thanks so much for playing along over at Mod Squad this week! 🙂 <3

  7. I’m with you – LOVE the beach but I don’t go in the water either. Your card makes me want to grab a chair and a book and head to the beach for some quiet time. Love the scene you created – great card!
