Just Us Girls Challenge

JUGS (Just Us Girls) are celebrating 200 challenges! To help them celebrate, Inspired by Stamping are sponsoring this challenge.

Using the provided sketch, I made a vintage card.  The background papers are from Prima Marketing, the lace, netting, and pearls are from my stash. (The pearls were colored with Copics to match the background paper.)

The little locket and chain were also from my stash.

This was a relatively easy card: I covered the entire background with vintage style paper, then cut a strip of a contrasting paper and distressed it with Vintage Photo distress ink, and also used my distress tool.

Next, using double-sided tape, I added some crocheted lace along one side, then distressed each end of the lace with a ‘pointy tool’.  After that, I added some netting to the other side, again distressing it, but this time on the sides.  I wasn’t happy with the stark-white of the net, so covered the rest of the strip with paper, and used Valencia Glimmer Mist to give it some color.

I wanted to add the little locket, and found some chain in my stash, which I cut up, then added them together using Zots.

I decided to make this a birthday card, as there’s always a birthday somewhere that needs a card, and in this instance, used Big Wishes II from Inspired by Stamping.  (This stamp has quickly become my favorite birthday stamp!)

After stamping with Archival Ink, I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink on the greeting, as well as Dried Marigold Distress Ink.  I was pretty happy with it, but felt it was a bit ordinary, so I used a variety of Glimmer Mists on it to give a bit of ‘texture’ and dimension.

Last but not least, I added three pearls that were colored using Copics, with an aim to match the pearls to the background.

Okay, that’s it!

  2. Cheryl, this card is gorgeous! I absolutely LOVE the papers and how you’ve distressed them, plus the other elements. And aren’t Copics-colored pearls totally awesome? Thanks so much for sharing with us at IBS!

  3. Thanks Shea! Yes!! Love being able to color pearls with Copics. It makes it so easy to match them with the rest of the card.
