This week’s challenge at Mod Squad is gold. I’m busy making Christmas cards, and I love gold on Christmas cards, so that’s how my entry came about. In addition, I bought some Close to my Heart stamps and stamp sets this week, and wanted to play with them.
For this card, I took some leftover design paper and cut it to the height of my cardbase, then cut it in half, laying half on each side. Then I cut a piece of white cardstock to go over the top of these strips, in the middle.
Using my new CTMH “Swirling Stars” stamp, I stamp the whole piece with versamark, then used gold embossing powder. That was then glued onto the cardbase. *I was going to use Delicata gold ink but felt it would be too pale, so gold embossed instead.
Next I stamped the greeting, using the CTMH stamp “A Little Jingle” – again using versamark and gold embossing powder. I cut it into a tag, then added some leftover dsp to the back, leaving a small amount showing.
After adding the tag with dimensionals, I added a tiny bow using gold and white twine from Stampin’ Up!
That’s it – all done. I’m pretty happy with the way this turned out.
I counted up the Christmas cards I’ve already made this year, and discovered I’ve created thirty-one cards so far. I won’t say that will be the end, but I’m not going to stress about them now. That said, the gift shop I make for often rings about two weeks before Christmas and wants 10-20 cards “immediately” so I like to have some in reserve!

That new stamp looks amazing here Cheryl. You are right – perfect in gold. Love the DP in the background and the sentiment and bow finishes it off nicely.

I went in for a closer look, as I love that you used gold and green. The white panel is so twinkly and goes so well with that sentiment. Nice idea to place it on a banner. Great design. Good luck making more cards and for this challenge. Thanks for joining us at the Mod Squad this week.
