This card is for the Inspired by Stamping Color Challenge #66. The colours required are Black, White, and Yellow. To be honest, this was much easier than I’d envisaged!
The stamps I’ve used on this card are:
Background – Hexagons
Tags – Vintage Banners
Greeting – Ahoy, Matey
All stamps are from Inspired by Stamping.
This was a fairly simple card to make. I stamped the background with Versamark, using the Hexagons stamp. Using clear embossing powder, I then heat set. Because there isn’t a full page of hexagons, and only a small area, I had to stamp several times. It wasn’t too hard to line up.
When that was all done, I sponged the centre of the card with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink. Then I stamped the banner and greeting, cut out, and popped up with dimensionals.
Last but not least, I added some tiny beads and small sequins in yellow and black. Then ‘dotted’ Star Dust Stickles randomly around the centre of the card.
The white cardstock was layered on black, then onto yellow cardstock.
That’s it, done!

*I have also entered this card in the Simon Says Emboss It Challenge.
Well done Cheryl, I’ve been thinking about it and a bit blocked with the colour challenges…but distracted by other stuff that has to be done. I really like what you’ve done here, and lol that you said it was esier than you thought it’d be! You can see the texture you created in the middle with the stickles etc, bet it looks really pretty in real life.
Lovely Cheryl! I thought it was a folder until I read you had stamped the hexagons!!Love the banner and sentiment!
I really like the simplicity of your card Cheryl. Great use of the hexagons. Great CAS card.
Karen, I was a bit blocked on the colours too. Funny how that happens! If you click on the image, you’ll get an enlarged view, and you’ll see the stickles so much easier! (Yep, lots of shine and shimmer in real life!)
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey Marcelle, if you look closely you’ll see I haven’t stamped the Hexagons perfectly lined up! I did think about using an EF, but this was a bit more challenge. And you know me, I love a challenge!
Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks Lindsay, I didn’t want this card to be cluttered, so decided CAS it would be!
Thanks for stopping by!
This is fabulous! I love the effect you got with the splash of color and the hexagons coming through. Thanks so much for joining us at IBS!

Thanks Leah, I’m pretty taken with it myself. May have to make this card using other colours too!
So beautiful Cheryl! Love how you used the Hexagons as a background! I just adore this and the colors too! Hugs, Joanna
Thanks so much Joanna!
Wow, I used the zoom in feature, and realized that you did use the hexagons all over just the color in the center area. Very cool, I love that look. Yes, I saw the stickles, and boy, I just hate that they don’t photograph as lovely as they are in real life. Oh well. It’s a great card, Cheryl, and I really like those little flowers scattered around, also. What a cool mat background it sets it off beautifully. I agree that you could change up the colors and go crazy making a bunch of these. Hmmm. Nice job, girlfriend!
Thanks Anna. I can see how this card could be totally different by changing up the colours, as well as the embellishments. Maybe even a different colour of stickles. (Or even a different background stamp!)
I did think about doing this with an EF, but the emboss resist effect wouldn’t have been there.
This is fantastic! Love love love it!
Thanks so much for joining us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge!
