Friends are Flowers

I received this duo set in the mail just a few days ago, and couldn’t wait to try it!

The stamp is Friends are Flowers, from Gina K Designs.

The yellow cardstock was a scrap I had put aside.  I’d embossed it with Swiss Dots months ago, but decided it wasn’t suitable for the card I was making at the time, so added it to my ‘scrap’ box.  I think it’s perfect for this card.

I stamped the flower image in Memento Black, then coloured it with Copics.  This is only my second card using Copics.  I purchased my first six Copic markers yesterday, and had my first ‘play’ today. (I was itching to use them but didn’t have the time!)

I was very happy with the results of the first card, and also this card, particularly considering I’m a total novice at Copics colouring.  I used some orange grossgrain ribbon in my stash, and it matched the Copics colour perfectly.  I added some pearls to the ribbon and also the top corners (which I rounded with a punch), then aded it all to some brown cardstock.

I would have preferred black cardstock – to match the black ink – but would you believe I’m out of black cardstock?  Nope, I couldn’t either!

Okay, that’s it.  Pretty darned easy!

I’m entering this card into the Outlawz CAS challenge for this week.

  1. This looks awesome Cheryl. Welcome to the wonderful world of Copics! Don’t you just love it when you can pick items from your stash and make a beautiful card with it? Your coloring looks great. I love that you colored on yellow…really makes the orange pop!

  2. What a lovely, happy card, Cheryl! Your first copic experience? Woohoo! I must say, you’re copi–ng very well (hehe). I absolutely love mine, but have a long way to go to really use them well.
