Challenges I have entered this card in:
This card was not hard to do, but it certainly was fiddly.
I started off with a square card, which was pearlised card and a beautiful soft lilac colour.
Using a die and my Cuttlebug, I cut out a heart shape as well as a circle. I embossed the heart die cut with a Cuttlebug A2 Embossing Folder, D’vine Swirls, but you could use any embossing folder you like. For the heart I used a daisy embossing folder.
I added the heart to the card base, then layered some feathers onto the heart using double-sided tape. The trick is to ensure these don’t show once you add the circle, because you don’t want the messy bits to be seen. Once I was happy with the feathers, I stuck the circle down using some foam pads. This part can be tricky because of all the feathers, so you may need to pull some feathers aside a bit to find somewhere to attach the foam pads. Once you’ve added the circle, you can then begin to add your other embellishments.
This was very much trial and error for me, because I wasn’t sure how everything would look when it was all finished.
Here’s what I added to the top:
Fused Pearls – but I’m not certain that’s what they’re called. These are strings of pearls but the pearls are not very close together. (They can be seen above – the three ‘strings’ are in the middle.)
Decorative Pins. I added one to each side.
More feathers – very small this time.
Flourish – this is light green on this card.
I secured those down with double-sided tape, with the flourish over the top of everything else to cover the messy bits. Then I’ve cut out two leaves (using Spellbinders Foliage) and put those over the top of the decorative pin etc. Next I took some very soft pink mulberry-type paper and cut it into a circle. I then ruffled it in the middle and made it into a spiral flower type of thing, and then added some glitter glue around the edges. Last but not least I made a small pink flower out of organza and added that.
To finish it off I added three pearls in the left hand bottom corner and a tag with Happy Birthday on the right hand side.
That’s it – done. Not difficult, but very very fiddly.
