I’ve been busy making a start on Mother’s Day cards for the flower shop. Like Valentine’s Day, they need around 40 Mother’s Day cards, so I thought I’d get a head start. I already have twelve made!
So… I decided to have a break from those cards, knowing they will need birthday cards very soon. (They are topped up most months as they sell so many.)
For the Mix It Up challenge this month, which is make your own background, I decided to do my background using foiling.
I started by using some kraft cardstock, then foiled with the Thorny Branches hot foil stamp from Anna Griffin. I used iridescent silver foil.
Because the cardstock would not be covered with just one foiling, I moved it up and down and sideways to cover the area. As you can see below, it’s a bit of a mess in the centre, but I knew it would be covered, so wasn’t concerned. (I love the colours when the light hits it.)
Next I took some left over scrap pieces from the Bundle of Love design paper from Stampin’ Up! I’ve been using that for Mother’s Day cards. I cut two designs (in Blushing Bride) into four even pieces, and glued them onto a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, making sure they were even around the edges.
I then glued that onto foiled background, using foam tape to give it some dimension.
Next I foiled a greeting using the same cardstock as the base, and the same foil.
I cut around it, to give the shape you see here. Last of all I added it to the centre of the card with foam tape, then added some embellishments with Nuvo Drops. (I only have two colours of Nuvo Drops, and this one matched perfectly!)
And that was the card done.
We would love to see you over at the Mix It Up challenge blog. This month’s challenge is make your own background, otherwise, anything goes.
Thanks for looking, and as always, if you want to comment and the comment box isn’t showing, click the title of this post and it will magically appear!
A beautiful card design and love the foiling you did. Works great for the background.
