Colleen Bow

I made this card using the tutorial from Inspired by Stamping. The tutorial is for the “Colleen Bow”.

As is my normal practice with this sort of card, I used a card topper. Here’s how this card was made:

To make the background I randomly sponged used the following Distress Inks:

Dried Marigold

Victorian Velvet

Old Paper

These were spritzed with water, then I dabbed  with a clean piece of material (using the Tim Holtz technique).

I then added Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and spritzed and dabbed again.

Cut a doily in half, sponge with Victorian Velvet, then add to card.

Add sheer ribbon (I used an orange/marigold colour).  Top with lace.  I dyed my lace with the four colours used for the background. This takes quite a while to dry.

The bow was made with seam binding, which I’d dyed with Dried Marigold Distress Ink.  This was then added across the card.

Once all that is done, the card topper can be added to the base. Then proceed as follows:

The greeting – Just Because  from Inspired by Stamping – was stamped with Versafine Sepia ink. After fussy cutting it, I added that to the card with dimensionals, then added a white and a brown flower (also from IBS).

That’s it.  All done.

  1. Woooooow. Your colors on this card are gorgeous, Cheryl. I would love to receive a card like this! You did a beautiful job on the ‘Colleen Bow’, too. 🙂 I am so glad you decided to play along with my IBS challenge!

  2. Thanks Calypso! I love shabby chic, and I also love seam binding, especially the fact I can match the colours to the rest of my card.
