Butterfly Garden Pocket Card

My last post showcased a mini album I made using the beautiful Butterfly Garden Collection of papers.

Today I am using up some of the leftover paper I had that wasn’t big enough to make photo mats.

Unfortunately, a dear elderly friend of mine had a fall last week, and has broken her femur quite badly. She is currently in hospital after having surgery to secure the bone.

This card is for her.

I rifled through my left over pieces of design paper, and I had two smaller pieces, which can be seen above. They weren’t very wide, but were pretty, so I made those into tags. She a prolific reader, so I thought she may use them as bookmarks.

Below you can see the pieces I chose for the card itself. I had a largish piece of the base piece, which was wide enough for three cards, so used that for the base. The more decorative piece, used for the pocket, was just this small piece but with a straight edge.

I laid it down on the base piece, but it blended in too much, so decided to put a black die cut along the edge. This broke them up much better. The only problem was I didn’t have any other black on the card, and it didn’t look right. I fixed the problem by adding a black card base.

I had intended to add a greeting to this, but at the last moment changed my mind. I didn’t want to cover up any of the flowers on the pocket, and felt adding one to the top wouldn’t work either, so I left it off altogether. (I did add a greeting to the inside.)

Below you can see the completed card, with the tags inserted. I added some glittery ribbon from my stash, and made a bow on each one. The back of each tag is plain, using the same paper, but without the image.

I’m really happy with this card, and hope my friend is too.
