Butterfly Frame Birthday Card

I have only recently begun to play with the new Butterfly Garden Collection from Couture Creations, but I’m already in love with it.

This card was made for my mother-in-law’s 89th birthday, and I wanted to make something special for her.

I started with a white cardbase, and added butterfly patterned dsp (C0726533) to the whole front – after distressing it. I decided this was going to be a frame card, so cut a frame using two dies from the same set, and a soft patterned paper.  (C0726535) *I didn’t like the way the sides stuck out on the outside, so trimmed those off.

As you can see from the image above, I cut an image from another sheet to fit inside my frame. (C0726532) I then added the frame using two layers of foam tape, as I wanted the image to really stand out.

Once the frame and image were put together, taking contrasting cardstock, I cut one side of the cardstock, using the Petit Floral Edge Die. Then I sat the frame on top to see where I needed to cut the other side. Once done, I cut that down to the correct height and added it to back of the framed image.

I added the Happy Birthday from one of the design papers (C0726531), and the butterfly from the Butterfly Garden Ephemera pack. I added some Stickles to the framed flowers where appropriate, and also to the butterfly wings.

And my card was done.

This was a relatively simple card which didn’t take a great deal of time to make. (Perhaps fifteen minutes or so.)
