Butterflies in Flight

When I saw the challenge over at Time Out, I knew I had to enter. For two reasons: 1) there were butterflies, and I loooove butterflies(!), and 2) a friend’s birthday is coming up, and she loves butterflies!

There were also several other challenges I wanted to enter this card in, once I started creating. (See below for list.)

I really had no idea whatsoever what I was going to do for this card when I sat down to make it. But I did know I wanted to use a stenciled background. But when I pulled out my stencils, I saw a piece of stencil blanks (can’t remember the correct name), sitting in my stash, so decided to use it instead.

I lightly sponged SU Calypso Coral and SU Summer Sun (long retired) around the card topper until I was happy with the look. I then took STAMPlorations Scribbly Splattery Grunge Stamp set, stamping the butterfly and one of the ‘scribbles’ in the same set in Calypso Coral and Summer Sun.

The greeting is from STAMPlorations Tree Silhouettes. It is normally in one line, but I masked to use it across two rows.

Last but not least, using the same cardstock as the base, I added butterflies that I’d cut and embossed using the SU Beautiful Wings Embosslit (also retired).

I am adding this card to the following challenges:

Time Out Challenge #81 (Inspirational Photo)

STAMPlorations Never-Ending Anything Goes challenge

STAMPlorations Things with Wings Linky Party Challenge

STAMPlorations April Theme and Sketch Challenge

I’m also adding this card to the Mix It Up “Just for Fun” challenge, which the DT’s are encouraged to enter as well. (The first ‘real’ challenge doesn’t start until May 1st.) There is a prize on offer for this particular challenge.

Thanks for looking, and as always, if you want to comment and the comment box isn’t showing, click the title of this post and it will magically appear!

  1. I love butterflies too and I love the card you created with all of those butterflies flitting across it as well. Gorgeous colors and I think your friend will love it as well.

  2. I am so pleased our photo inspired you. And I love the collage look of your card and the grounding you got through using the stencil. Thanks for joining us at Time Out Challenges

  3. The layered stencilling adds such wonderful depth to your flurry of delicate, dimensional butterflies, Cheryl … so very pretty! Thanks so much for being inspired by our photo, and for playing along with us at Time Out! Anita 🙂
