My brother-in-law recently turned 75. He is deeply into nautical cards, so I decided to make a different version of the previous nautical card I showcased on this blog.
This time I used a different set of stamps, but still used the same style. (The only stamp the same was the Stampin’ Up! World Map, which is sitting quietly in the background.)
I changed up the ship to use the pirate ship from “Pirates” by Inspired by Stamping, as well as the greeting from the same set. The ‘wheel’ is a stamp/die set which is unbranded, and the same set from the previous card as well.
I actually stamped it in an almost matching colour of brown, but once it was stuck down, I really didn’t like it. It just blended in with the frame. So I re-stamped it in black, and stuck it over the top. I was much happier with that version!
I am entering this card in the Cut it Up 100 challenges (Anything Goes) competition.
Thanks for looking, and as always, if you want to comment, and the comment box isn’t showing, click the title of this post and it will magically appear!
This one is super wonderful too. I am sure he will love it!
Lovely card, love the pirate ship from Inpired by Stamping, she makes some lovely stamps.
Hope your brother inlaw appreciated your card.
Thanks Verna! He is a collector of everything nautical, so I’m sure he does.
Thanks Vicki. This is probably my most used set from IBS. I get so much use from it!!
Great card! Love that ship too
Beautiful card! I’m sure your brother-in-law loved it! Thank you for joining Cut It Up’s 100th Anything goes challenge!

First of all, I love that you used a stamp in the background. I clicked on your picture to enlarge it to see the detail. I bet it’s even more stunning in person.
Making the ship’s wheel black was a great idea, too. When I complete a card and something just doesn’t seem right, I go back and change it until I’m happy with it. The black ties in with the ship stamp. Very pretty!
Thanks for celebrating our 100th post with us at Cut it Up!
