Neutrals With Texture

I’ll start off by apologizing for not posting much lately. I began a new book recently, and I’m trying to spend at least an hour or two a day on it. That cuts into my crafting time, but it’s important for me, as a writer, to be producing new books on a regular basis.

The current challenge at Double D Challenges is neutrals with texture. I started off with kraft cardstock, for both the base and the topper. I embossed the topper with what appears to be a tree trunk (wood knot and all), then rubbed versamark over it.

I sprinkled it with clear embossing power, and heat set, then sprinkled gold embossing powder over it while the clear was still sticky. I then heat set the gold.

I found some netting in my stash, scrunched it up and added with some glue, then took some twine and looped it, then added it to the netting.

At that point I still wasn’t sure where I was going with the card, but pulled some hessian/burlap strips out of my stash. I pulled a few strands off at the side, and trimmed it down. I did that for all four sides, then glued them down when I was happy with them.

I added some of those discarded pieces to the top of the twine and glued down. Then I stamped STAMPlorations “It’s All About You” which comes as a full sheet. I cut out the words I wanted, then glued them down.

That’s it, all done.
