I managed to get my hands on three (yes, only three) Distress Oxide Inks recently. Cracked Pistachio, Spiced Marmalade, and Faded Jeans. They were the only colours available at the time, but I have since ordered the rest and should receive them soon.
I will admit I was very skeptical about the oxide inks, and couldn’t see any difference between these and the original distress inks. Now that I’ve had a chance to play, both at home, and at a craft show, I can see there are many differences.
For this card, I made the background by sponging Cracked Pistachio and Spiced Marmalade, then (credit to Jennifer McGuire) spraying my stencil and laying it on top of the Distress Oxide sponging. (The stencil used is Flutterby from STAMPlorations.)
After lifting the stencil, I dried the background with a heat gun.
I really love the result I got here, and decided it was way too pretty to cover it. So I stamped a greeting on vellum, and glued it down using tiny drops of Glossy Accents. Lastly I added a punched butterfly (SU) using some leftover pieces from another background that used the same colours. I sponged the edges of the butterfly with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Ink to match, and added some rhinestones in the centre. (Greeting from Tree Silhouettes by STAMPlorations.)
I am adding this card to the following challenges:
