These seem to be the least common card ideas to find online.  Or in fact, anywhere.

I challenged myself to make some greeting cards for men because I find those the hardest of all.  That’s possibly because I can’t add the flourishes, flowers, butterflies, and other girly things I normally add to cards.

Both these cards are incredibly simple, but in my opinion, stunning.

Blue Themed Male Card

This first card uses a Cuttlebug Embossing & Die Cutting Machine, but if you don’t have one you could use embossed card instead.

The basis for this card is royal blue card stock.  I’ve then taken white card stock (front only) and put it through the Cuttlebug using the Cuttlebug Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Cut your white card stock slightly small all round so the blue still shows through.

Then, taking the same royal blue card stock used for the base, I’ve cut a narrow strip and put that through the Cuttlebug as well.  (Using the same embossing folder.) This piece needs to span the entire width of the card, or if you prefer, it can reach only to the width of the white card.

Next I’ve cut two squares of the blue (not embossed) – they are different sizes, and this will depend on the image you decide to use for the bottom left.  Believe it or not, the image used in this instance has been taken from gift wrap.  The color matched my color-scheme perfectly, and is a great image for men.

I simply cut the image to the size that matched the square, and glued it on.  The blue square in the top right hand corner has been made using a  “Happy Birthday” stamp, which I’ve stamped on with a VersaMark Stamp Pad, then embossed with White Embossing Powder.

As you can see, it was extremely simple and the effect was stunning.

Brown Themed Male Card

This next card is even easier than the first.

This card uses white card stock.  I’ve then taken the Cuttlebug D’vine Swirls Embossing Folder and embossed the front of the white stock.

I then sponged over the embossed card using Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink all over it. This gave an uneven look, which I preferred to a more uniformed look.

I then took two lengths of brown ribbon and glued them across the card (as shown).  The next step was to take the medium sized Spellbinders Nestabilities Large Classic Scalloped Ovals and stamp it with Happy Birthday in Brown Ink. (I used StazOn Ink in Saddle Brown) I then sponged over and around the label with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Ideas for men are generally harder to find, so I hope these two cards spark your imagination.
