Stenciled Birthday Card

This month’s Mix It Up Challenge is all about stenciling.

The stencil used here is from Hero Arts. I love it and use it heaps.

I began by adding three blobs of texture paste to my heat resistant craft mat. I then mixed each blob with a different Distress Oxide Ink, and randomly added the colored texture paste to the stencil, which was placed over my card topper.

This was the result:

After coloring a piece of cardstock with a matching Distress Oxide Ink, I used the STAMPlorations “Birthday” die to cut out the word Birthday. I cut it out three times – once in the pink, and twice in white – and glued those pieces together before gluing it down to the cardbase.

I then stamped ‘Happy’ from their “Party Time” stamp set, (masked off the remainder of the stamp) onto a piece of white cardstock, again using a matching Distress Oxide Ink.

Last of all, I add the topper to a matching card base.

And that was it. This card was sent to my dear friend Ina from Little Bits of Craft, for her birthday.

Why not enter this month’s challenge. My stenciling is a little more complicated, so if you’re a beginner, you might want to start with sponging over a stencil. There are heaps of ways to use stencils, and YouTube is a great way to learn.

Thanks for looking, and as always, if you want to comment and the comment box isn’t showing, click the title of this post and it will magically appear!
