Stenciled Background Birthday Card

Before we get into today’s card, I thought I’d show you how I’m getting around at the moment. I’m in a Cam Boot, which is quite cumbersome. I had hoped to be out of it by now, but my broken ankle is very slow healing, so I’m destined to stay in it for an additional three weeks.

At least now I can go off the crutches, and can now use a walking stick, which should make things a little easier.

Hopefully, when I return to the fracture clinic in three weeks time, my ankle will be healed, and I’ll be almost back to normal.

I’ve had to stop going to the gym, and also, since it’s my right foot, stop driving.

It will be great when things are back to normal. Now, onto today’s card!!

This week’s challenge from Just Us Girls is to use a stencil.

I started off by using Peacock Feathers and Wild Honey distress inks on a card topper. I dropped water on top when I’d done sponging, and dried it off.  Then I took a Kaisercraft stencil and using Scattered Straw distress ink, I stenciled the background.

Using the first two distress inks (on the craft mat and spritzed with water), I coloured some seam binding. When it was dry, I put some loosely across the card, and glued it down with tiny drops of Glossy Accents. The ribbon has three loops as I wanted it to look full. Once glued down, I added a tiny flower that matched.

Lastly I added a greeting from Inspired by Stamping, from the “Lovely Birthday” set.
